Olive Egger

Olive Egger chickens are not a breed, but instead a cross of two breeds — usually a blue egg layer and a dark brown egg layer. Here at Far Far Away we are breeding our Isbar (green speckled layer) Rooster over our championship Black Copper Maran hens (deep chocolate layer) . The resulting chick will be sold straight- run (unsexed) and will hatch out of a dark chocolate egg but be a layer of large olive eggs, probably with darker olive speckles. These chicks will take on traits of both parents having feathered feet like the Marans, and black and silver or black and copper feathers. Though these chicks are sold straight run any unwanted males can be returned to the farm for free.
