Pure Bred Ameraucana

The Ameraucana (not an Easter/Oliver Egger) is one of the few chicken breeds that lays blue eggs. They are a cold hardy, dual purpose breed. They come in LF standard size and bantam. LF females are on the lighter side weighing in around 5lbs, males at 6lbs.

There are eight color varieties accepted by the American Poultry Association for showing: Black, Blue, Blue Wheaten, Brown Red, Buff, Silver, Wheaten, and White. Other color varieties like Lavender and Black & Blue Splash are not APA accepted yet.

They should not be confused with Easter Eggers, which can lay blue, green or brown eggs; and do not conform to any breed standard. However, many hatcheries continue to call their Easter Eggers "Americanas" (and other various, intentional misspellings). If you are interested in showing your birds, make sure that you have true Ameraucana.

These lovely birds have a very sweet and docile temperament bordering on shy.  They are the perfect eye candy to add to your flock and egg basket!
